With a narrative bent that ranks her with the likes of James McMurtry and an ear for melody that has earned her comparisons with Lucinda Williams, Florence delivers rich storytelling with plenty of wit. Served up in rich, emotional vocals and backed by a killer rock band, the songs on Hold the Spark span the spectrum—rangingfrom a tear-jerking tender love song about Florence’s daughter to a hilarious Stooges-like rocker about the stupidity of academic meetings; and from a sweet, wise reflection about a yearslong missed romantic opportunity to an Aimee Mann-like reflection on mortality.

Hold the Spark, undoubtedly Florence’s strongest offering yet, features an all-star cast of Americana greats, including Jason Wilber (John Prine) and Chris Masterson (The Wallflowers, Steve Earle & the Dukes) on guitars and husband Will Rigby (Steve Earle & the Dukes, The dB’s) on drums. Don Dixon (REM) produced Hold the Spark; Paul Voran (Bon Iver, Nathaniel Rateliff, Waxahachie) mixed. Hold the Spark features cameos by the great Mitch Easter, Libby Rodenbough (Mipso), Robert Sledge (Ben Folds Five), Kelly Pratt (Father John Misty), and Eleanor Whitmore (The Mastersons, Elvis Costello, Steve Earle & the Dukes).

The road from her first record Perfect City (2001, produced by Eric Ambel) to Hold the Spark has been anything but straight. As the so-called “rocking professor” at UNC Chapel Hill, Dore teaches plenty. But she has also spent a lot of time riding around on Steve Earle’s bus catching up with her Dukes-drumming husband Will Rigby, writing books, putting on conferences – including one at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame – and raising a kid.

Back in 1994 the Posies covered Florence’s holiday heartbreaker “Christmas” for the Geffen release, Just Say Noel, and over the first pandemic months, she co-created Cover Charge, the charting compilation of NC artists to benefit Cat’s Cradle. Florence’s second album, Highways & Rocketships (Propeller Sound Recordings 2022) won Best Americana Album of the Year at Lonesome Highway Magazine in 2022, and Florence toured extensively behind that album, selling out New York’s Rockwood Music Hall and packing clubs from Cleveland and Boston to Atlanta, Nashville, and New Orleans.

She landed opening slots with Steve Earle, Southern Culture on the Skids, Sarah Shook & the Disarmers, and Dash Rip Rock. Mojo Nixon (RIP) was a fan and gave her “Thundercloud (Fucking with Your Heart)” generous spins; Steve Earle and others at Sirius XM continue to play several tunes from Highways and Rocketships.

The Courettes is an explosive rock duo from Denmark and Brazil who found the perfect blend between garage rock, 60s Girl Group, Wall of Sound, surf music and doo wop. Like The Ronettes meet The Ramones at a wild party at Gold Star Studios echo chamber. Praised by the biggest music magazines around the world, in 2020 the band signed with legendary British label Damaged Goods, putting them on the same roster as top international rock icons like Buzzcocks, Manic Street Preaches, Atari Teenage Riot, New Bomb Turks, Amyl and the Sniffers, Billy Childish, Captain Sensible and many others.

Her songwriting has always walked the line between rebellion and introspection, shaped by a Southern upbringing and a restless search for identity beyond it. With a voice that’s both soulful and gritty, she’s captivated audiences across ten countries and three continents, earning acclaim for her debut Razorwire, the fierce follow-up Gold Rush, and the intimate Live in Black and White, recorded in London.

In 2023, Aldridge expanded her sonic palette with Dream of America—a cinematic, genre-defying album released on the Swedish indie label Icons Creating Evil Art. Peering into the lives of fallen starlets, drifters, and damaged dreamers, the record showcased her gift for storytelling through shadowy, emotionally charged vignettes.

Blending Americana roots with the grit of noir indie-pop, Aldridge’s sound is both haunting and beautiful. Whether alone or backed by a band, her performances ring out with the conviction of a church bell echoing through her Alabama hometown.

FUNHOUSE, a Swedish rock band born in 1986, emerged from the collaboration of four long-haired punk rockers. Their journey began with a self-financed single, Tormentor, followed by performances across Sweden that soon earned them a deal with the label Accelerating Blue Fish. After releasing the Friends EP and the album Girls, the band took a three-year hiatus before delivering their monumental album, Never Again, in 1996. This masterpiece, themed around love, trust, and betrayal, secured Funhouse’s position as one of Europe’s frontrunners in the dark rock scene. The years that followed saw the band touring relentlessly across Europe, giving rise to their uniquely coined ”goth n roll” artistry. Amid endless gigs, interviews, and indulgence in cherry wine and gin, Funhouse immersed itself in bringing their music to audiences far and wide. However, when they eventually returned to the studio to record new material, they faced
unexpected turbulence. The toll of their intense lifestyle became unavoidable, turning the recording sessions into a challenging period for the band.

Fast forward to 2019, Funhouse announced their ”Forever True 2020” tour via Facebook, with plans to kickstart the journey in Berlin on March 21, 2020. But as we all remember, global events brought nearly everything to a halt that March. Despite setbacks, 2024 marked a triumphant return for Funhouse as they released a fresh studio album titled Sometimes I Wish, accompanied by a live album recorded during their electrifying performance at the legendary WGT Festival in Leipzig in 2022. The band is now back in the studio working on their highly anticipated eighth album, set to be released later this year. Fans can look forward to authentic goth n roll anthems and get ready to embrace the joy amidst the darkness. As they like to say, If God were a rockstar, He would be Funhouse.

GALLOWS’ EVE är ett växande gothic rock-band från Malmö, bildat hösten 2021 av tre rutinerade musiker som tidigare spelat i bland annat Kindred Spirits och Grand Rezerva. Deras musik förenar hårdrockens grund med mörka, melodiska goth-element: vassa gitarrer, synttexturer och kraftfull sång, vilket har gett dem uppskattning runt om i Europa. Gallows’ Eve kombinerar melodisk gothic rock med tyngre instrumentation och atmosfäriska syntar. Texter och visuellt uttryck utforskar ofta ockultism, drömmar, död och primala känslor, vilket skapar en mörk och fängslande estetik. Gallows’ Eve har uppträtt live runt om i Europa, bland annat på Bats in the Attic (september 2024), som headliner på Black Cat i Köpenhamn (november 2024), en Malmöspelning med Wisborg (maj 2025), samt konserter med True Moon, Abu Nein, Funhouse och Then Comes Silence under 2024, för att nämna några. UK singer-songwriter Marc Valentine hits the road again in 2026 to promote his third album ‘Uncommon Side Effects’. (Released 10th April on Wicked Cool Records). Marc will be bringing his band of rock n roll troubadours and low slung guitars to venues across the UK and Europe as part of an extensive album tour this year. The band has an anthemic, transatlantic sound that blends Springsteen and Weezer with Buzzcocks and T-Rex. Some call it punky powerpop. You want killer guitar hooks and catchy choruses? You got it!
The new album ‘Uncommon Side Effects’ is produced by Dave Draper (Michael Monroe, Wildhearts) with executive producer Little Steven. It is the highly anticipated follow-up to critically acclaimed sophomore album, ‘Basement Sparks’ (2024), preceded by Marc’s debut album ‘Future Obscure’ (2022) which featured collaborations with the likes of Wreckless Eric and Matt Dangerfield (The Boys). JANNE BORGH FANCLUB: Janne Borgh är grundare av de legendariska Malmö-popparna The Moderns och ena halvan av Stockholms post-punk-hjältar Strindbergs. Veteraner med livslång passion för jazzen och unga nyfikna musikanter möts i en skön blandning för att ge liv åt original jazzen från början av 1900-talet. Rex Rhythm Kings inleder kl 20. Bandet spelar New Orleans Jazz från början av 1900-talet, en populär musikform som har hållits vid liv genom att ständigt få nya utövare och i de fem musikernas framförande ingår slagkraftiga melodier, medryckande rytm och lekfull improvisation. Samtliga musiker är solister i bandets personliga tolkning av den klassiska jazzen. Därefter blir det olika konstellationer under kvällens lopp.

Efter hyllningar i både SVT och Aftonbladet, och med debut­plattan Östersjöns Hawaii i ryggen, fortsätter Kiitos för allting att ta över landets scener med sin alldeles egna americana på svenska.

FLYING CHANGES är ett sex musiker starkt band från Malmö som lirar låtar i country, americana, newgrass, och folk-tradition på både svenska och engelska. Mest eget, men även väl utvalda covers. Det är ös, vemod, smärtsamt och hjärtligt. Texter om livet, orättvisor, brustna hjärtan, kärlek och ond bråd död.

Skabandet THE BUSTUPS startade i Malmö 2000. Bustups hade fler livespelningar än inspelningar och gjorde turnerandet till en livsstil. 2006 blev året då bandet tog en paus och efter det blivit fåtal men desto roligare gig. Bustups mission har alltid varit att sprida glädje och dans. De består av Hannah på trombone, Anna på saxofon, Daniel på bas, Henning på trummor, Anders på gitarr och Linda på sång och trumpet.

Westcoast Backbeat Orchestra är bandet som blandar och mixar men som inte kompromissar med svänget. Jamaicansk dansbandsmusik sa Bill! Det startade någonstans mellan Varberg och Falkenberg. Några ville spela musik som passar överallt och det skulle vara ska. Men många kockar och många bakgrunder så blir det en lite egen blandning. Debutskivan är på pressning och Heptown Records i Lund kommer stolt att ge ut den!

LOS FASTIDIOS… from Verona, Italy, they have been touring the world since 1991, playing over a hundred shows a year. Their sound is from Streetpunk to 2Tone ska, with a mix of rock’n’roll, brit-pop, and early reggae. They’re all about having fun, with lyrics that make you think and get you dancing from start to finish. Enrico, the original lead singer, has been joined by Elisa Dixan’s sweet voice since 2018, which has given the band a fresh, even more exciting vibe.
